Description

The LDCC (Drive Control/LAN Communications) board is a component in GE's DIRECTO-MATIC® 2000 series of drives and exciters. It is responsible for controlling the primary drive and I/O functions. Some of its features include:

• Use of a microprocessor to control and process drive, motor, and customer I/O functions
• Microprocessor-based control of local area network communications for drive I/O
• Availability of application software and customer-specific configuration data for the drive
• Built-in operator interface for making software adjustments and performing diagnostic tests
• Hardware and software-based reset functions for the drive.

The onboard software of the LDCC board is stored on memory chips, specifically six flash PROMs (U6, U7, U11, U12, U22, and U23). These chips hold configuration data that is programmed at the factory, but can be reprogrammed in the field if needed. Additionally, there is an EEPROM chip (U9) that stores field-adjustable parameters that can be downloaded using the drive configuration tools.

The LDCC also includes a digital display with 16 characters and a connector, known as KPPL, which can be used to add an optional operator interface module. This module, called the Programmer, includes an alphanumeric keypad and display window, and is used for making software adjustments and performing diagnostic tests.
